1. Scaliger Castle of Sirmione: The castle was built around 1250 by the will of Mastino I della Scala. Being one of the key attractions of Lake Garda it is still in perfect conditions. The whole building can be visited and offers beautiful views on Lake Garda which can be accessed via a drawbridge. The historic center of Sirmione can be reached by the main door of the castle.
2. Gardaland and other theme parks: Gardaland represents one of best places to visit on Lake Garda for family entertainment. The park is located in Castelnuovo del Garda, near Verona, and offers numerous fairground attractions for young and old. There are other theme parks to visit around the lake such as Movieland (cinema theme park), Caneva Acqua Park (water theme park), Safari Park and Natura Viva Park (the last two parks are focused on nature and animals).
3. Cathedral of Salò: Located at only 5 minutes from Gardone Riviera, this well preserved cathedral is an essential destination among excursions around Lake Garda. Dating back to 1453 it is designed in late Gothic style and contains a majestic organ and numerous art and craft works.
4. Vittoriale degli Italiani: The Vittoriale is the burial place of the poet and writer Gabriele D'Annunzio. Everything in this place is dedicated to his literary work and to his person. Inside the Vittoriale there is a park, an auditorium, a mausoleum, a house museum and the ship Puglia, donated to the poet in 1923 by the Navy of the Kingdom of Italy “Regia Marina”.
5. Limone sul Garda: known to the public for its many citrus groves, a visit to this village can complete your list of top places to visit on Lake Garda. In addition to lemons, kumquats, sour oranges, cedars and mandarins are grown in this area.
